The Investigative Committee opened a case after the poisoning of visitors at a cafe in Nizhny Novgorod.
On July 2, 2026, at 12:14, incidents were reported in Nizhny Novgorod where a criminal case was initiated after a mass outbreak of salmonellosis among visitors to a café on Alekseevskaya Street. This was reported by the regional investigative committee. According to the investigation, five adults and one child sought medical assistance with signs of food poisoning. The child was hospitalized in an infectious disease hospital. A criminal case has been opened under part 1 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - providing services that do not meet safety requirements for the life and health of consumers. The investigation is under the control of the leadership of the regional department of the agency. Investigators from the investigative committee, together with specialists from Rospotrebnadzor, are conducting necessary investigative actions and sanitary-epidemiological measures to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
