The Environmental Prosecutor's Office identified violations in the area of Lake Meshcherskoye.

      On July 2, 2026, at 15:42, Society The Nizhny Novgorod inter-district environmental prosecutor's office conducted an inspection based on media publications regarding possible violations in a specially protected natural area. This was reported by the press service of the Volga interregional environmental prosecutor's office. The prosecutor visited the territory of the regional natural monument "Mescherskoye Lake." There, the specialist confirmed that the water area and the coastal strip were overgrown with aquatic and shrub vegetation and were also cluttered with waste. Additionally, a wake club is located on the shore of the water body, providing rental services for sports equipment and catamarans without the necessary permits for the use of the water object. Following the inspection, a proposal was submitted to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod region, demanding the organization of work to improve the water body and take responsive measures regarding the wake club. It is worth noting that swimming in Mescherskoye Lake is prohibited this year.
