Nizhny Novgorod resident Sergey Kornilov was sentenced for purchasing drugs online.

On July 2, 2026, at 12:51, incidents were reported. The Serghach Interdistrict Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region issued a verdict against Sergey Kornilov in a case of illegal acquisition of drugs in large quantities. This was reported by the press service of the court.

It was established that on April 1, the man ordered a prohibited substance via the internet and picked up a package from a stash. Shortly after that, he was detained by police officers.

In court, Kornilov fully admitted his guilt. He was found guilty under part 2 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - illegal acquisition of narcotic substances without the intent to sell in large quantities.

The accused was sentenced to four years of conditional imprisonment with the same probation period. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

By the way, the convicted person shares the name with the son of the former general director of the "Luidor" group, Sergey Kornilov. They have different patronymics.

Recall that the name Sergey Kornilov became widely known after the scandal involving a traffic accident on the Pokhvalinsky descent in Nizhny Novgorod in the spring of this year. At that time, the young man, driving a convertible while intoxicated, caused an accident involving three cars. After the incident, he published several videos on social media with controversial statements, which caused public resonance. Later, the criminal cases initiated against the "major" were consolidated into one proceeding.

Initially, the court prohibited him from certain actions, including visiting bars and using the internet, but then the preventive measure was changed to detention. He is under arrest until July 23, 2026.

In addition, after the traffic accident, the young man spent ten days under administrative arrest for a brawl in one of the restaurants in Nizhny Novgorod. His acquaintance, who participated in the conflict, was also held accountable.

Earlier, we reported that the former head of "Teploenergo," Ilya Khalturin, was released from custody. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
