Starting from July 1, 2026, only cashless payments will be available on public transport in Nizhny Novgorod. This decision aims to improve working conditions for drivers and increase transparency in the passenger transport market.
How to pay for travel?
You can choose one of the following methods:
Transport card "Sitikard" - a contactless plastic card for fare payment. It allows the use of an electronic wallet with free transfers or a prepaid travel pass. The activation cost of the card is 100 rubles.
Virtual transport card - available in the "SITIKARD" app on Android devices. It allows fare payment without an internet connection.
Nizhny Novgorod resident card - a personal card for beneficiaries, schoolchildren, and students, as well as its virtual version.
Bank card - can be used for a one-time trip on any public transport.
Mir Pay - payment via an Android smartphone linked to a bank card.
Biometrics - available for paying for a one-time trip on the metro.
What to do if you only have cash?
If you do not have a bank or transport card, you can purchase a transport card for cash at distribution points, newsstands, and Russian Post offices. Detailed information about service points is available on the Sitikard website.
What to do if the internet is not working?
Don't worry! All vehicles are equipped with portable validators that ensure 100% cashless payment capability, even without an internet connection.
