Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region now have access to a new platform for identifying the mechanisms of aging and preventing chronic diseases. Specialized comprehensive examinations can now be conducted at the Center for Healthy Longevity based at the City Polyclinic No. 4 in the Kanavinsky District of Nizhny Novgorod. This is already the second such facility — in the spring, a similar center opened at City Polyclinic No. 7. The center at City Polyclinic No. 4 was launched on June 26 as part of the "Evening of Health" project. The institution regularly holds themed events where patients are offered preventive examinations and health screenings in the late evening after the workday ends. As noted by the Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the centers for healthy longevity represent a new direction in preventive medicine based on modern scientific data about the mechanisms of aging. Patients are offered a comprehensive assessment of their body's reserves, determination of biological age, and a personalized program for maintaining health and active longevity. This is a valuable contribution to the implementation of the national project "Long and Active Life." "Today, we no longer just talk about a person's age, but we can determine age-related changes in the body and influence them. Modern medicine has scientifically proven methods that allow us to slow down these processes and extend the period of active, healthy life. This is precisely why the Centers for Healthy Longevity are being created," explained Natalia Savitskaya, chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention. The first stage of the examination includes bioimpedance analysis: this study allows for the assessment of body composition, the ratio of muscle and fat mass, as well as the fluid content in the body. In addition, specialists conduct studies on vascular stiffness, assess muscle strength, perform functional tests, measure key anthropometric indicators, and calculate the patient's biological age. An integral part of the examination is an extensive questionnaire consisting of about 200 questions. It helps assess the quality of a person's sleep, dietary habits, level of physical activity, stress load, emotional state, cognitive functions, and other indicators that affect aging processes. Based on the results of the first stage, specialists draw conclusions about the need for further examinations. The second stage involves a deeper diagnosis of various aging mechanisms. After completing all the studies, each patient is issued a personal "Health Passport" and an individual health improvement route is developed. Depending on the identified features, it may include physiotherapy procedures, light and magnetic therapy, therapeutic physical education classes, visits to stress relief offices, relaxation zones, salt caves, acupuncture, and other preventive methods. "We are not looking for already formed diseases and not just the usual risk factors. The main task of the center is to identify pre-risks of aging and the development of chronic diseases when a person still considers themselves healthy. It is at this stage that lifestyle adjustments can be made most effectively to prevent disease development. The comprehensive examination takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, but as a result, each patient receives a personalized health improvement route and, if necessary, further dispensary observation," said Inna Pudova, chief physician of City Polyclinic No. 4 in the Kanavinsky District of Nizhny Novgorod. Each center for healthy longevity employs multidisciplinary teams. These include doctors specializing in healthy longevity, nurses, administrators, and physiotherapy specialists. This approach allows for patient support at all stages of the examination, and some preventive procedures can begin on the day of the visit if necessary. On the day of the opening of the Center for Healthy Longevity at City Polyclinic No. 4, its first patients were 15 individuals. In total, as part of the "Evening of Health" event, over 50 residents of the region underwent health screenings and preventive examinations. As reminded by the regional Ministry of Health, all residents of the region over 18 years old can access the new Center for Healthy Longevity, regardless of their affiliation with a medical organization. Appointments can be made through the contact center of City Polyclinic No. 4, with the administrator, or at the nursing station. The center is located at: Nizhny Novgorod, Priokskaya St., 4. "The opening of another Center for Healthy Longevity is an important step towards ensuring that residents of Nizhny Novgorod maintain their quality of life, high energy levels, longevity, and interest in their health. This is a wonderful practice that should be accessible to every resident of the region," emphasized Yulia Garevskaya, Hero of Labor of Russia, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and chief physician of City Clinical Hospital No. 29 in Nizhny Novgorod.
Let us remind you that the national project "Long and Active Life" has been implemented in the country since 2025 by order of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. It aims to increase life expectancy by 2030 and involves the modernization of polyclinics, outpatient clinics, and midwifery posts, attracting qualified medical personnel to medical institutions, applying new approaches in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical care and rehabilitation systems, developing a network of national research centers, and digitizing the industry.
