Youth Day in the Nizhny Novgorod region brought together more than 40,000 people.
June 29, 2026 16:30 Culture and Recreation On Youth Day in the Nizhny Novgorod region, festive events took place in Nizhny Novgorod, Vyksa, Gorodets, Spasskoye, and Uren as part of the national project "Youth and Children," bringing together more than 40,000 people. "Youth Day in the Nizhny Novgorod region is much more than just a holiday. It is a large-scale platform of opportunities that this year once again extended far beyond Nizhny Novgorod. We intentionally expanded the celebration to the municipalities so that every young person, wherever they are—whether in the regional center or in a small town—feels like part of a big team. Here, one could not only have fun with friends but also take a serious step forward, as Youth Day is a holiday without borders, where every idea has a chance to be realized," said the Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Svetlana Anufrieva. In Nizhny Novgorod, a youth town was set up in Alexander Garden, where various projects from youth organizations and festival partners were presented on one platform. For example, at the Dream Universe from Sber, visitors could learn about the products and technologies from Sber that would help them realize their potential, as well as listen to a scientific stand-up by comedians Alexander Egorov and Pavel Dedishchev as part of the "Science in Every Step" project. Guests of Alexander Garden could also participate in the "I Love You" campaign and confess their feelings to their family or homeland. On this day, an open dialogue was held at the A.D. Sakharov Academy with the famous TV and radio host Tutta Larsen. At the meeting, the lecturer from the Russian Society "Knowledge" spoke about the importance of building a personal coordinate system through Russian culture, language, and historical heritage. Participants of the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program also met with the youth of Nizhny Novgorod. Additionally, the A.D. Sakharov Academy, together with five enterprises of Rosatom, conducted an interactive game "ATOM SUMMER: Internship in the Rosatom Country" as part of Youth Day 2026. "Youth is the main driver of future technological changes. Today, it is especially important not just to talk about prospects but to give young people the opportunity to try themselves in action. Our interactive game helps youth see real opportunities for professional development and feel like part of a large technological team," emphasized Maria Zotova, director of the A.D. Sakharov Academy. In the "Created by Youth" market, regional entrepreneurs presented their products, which could be purchased immediately. Another point of attraction was the MEGA shopping and entertainment center, where activists from student teams in the Nizhny Novgorod region shared opportunities for youth. This year, new formats were also implemented as part of the festival. Thus, in the run-up to Youth Day, the "Plus One" campaign took place, where a young couple learned the gender of their future child. Young couples who got married on the day of the celebration were personally congratulated by the Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Svetlana Anufrieva, at the Nizhny Novgorod Registry Office. On the festive morning, traffic police inspectors stopped young drivers at three points in the city and, together with volunteers, gave gifts with the festival's symbols. "Youth Day 2026" united youth in the region's municipalities. For instance, a competition "Rosmolodezh. Grants" took place in Gorodets. Out of 76 applications, 13 young people received funding for their projects, with a total support amount of over 5.5 million rubles. In Vyksa, art meditation and the business game "Cool Meetings" of the regional branch of the "Movement of the First" took place, and the evening concluded with a performance by the group "Intonation." Lectures from the Russian Society "Knowledge," workshops, and creative performances from collectives were held in Spasskoye and Uren. The NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
