Sergey Karyakin awarded the winners of the All-Russian chess tournament "Sergey Karyakin Cup" and held a simultaneous game session with them.

The event was organized as part of the United Russia party project "Children's Sports." International grandmaster and multiple world champion Sergey Karjakin awarded the winners of the All-Russian chess tournament "Sergey Karjakin Cup" and held a simultaneous exhibition with the ten best chess players of the competition in the "Switzerland" park. "Five hundred people participated today in the 'Sergey Karjakin Cup.' This is a very good number. Unfortunately, we had to limit the number of participants ourselves because we couldn't accommodate more. But it's nice that one hundred percent registered, and this shows that interest in chess is very high across the country," noted Sergey Karjakin, adding that Nizhny Novgorod is a very significant city for him because the first Sergey Karjakin chess club was opened here in November 2023. "At that time, we didn't know what scale we would reach. Now, more than one hundred thirty chess clubs are already functioning, and this is already a whole federal network that is growing and gaining momentum," the grandmaster said.

The first deputy head of the Nizhny Novgorod city administration, Denis Skalkin, thanked Sergey Karjakin and his team for organizing the tournament in Nizhny Novgorod. "Today, the 'Switzerland' park became a kind of chess arena for the tournament. A large number of young people competed at the boards, which means that interest in chess among the youth is not waning. The head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, pays great attention to this sport, including the development of chess clubs. I thank Sergey Karjakin for organizing the tournament, and to those who became winners today – good luck in the competitions in Moscow," said Denis Skalkin.

According to the director of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Nizhny Novgorod, Anton Yermakov, throughout the day, competitions were held for six categories of players of different ages: children's competitions, an open tournament for everyone, and a special tournament for veterans of the SVO. "This shows a certain continuity of generations, where both young guys and adult chess players not only exchange experiences but also demonstrate excellent chess play. The 'Switzerland' park has been the heart of the city for several decades; Nizhny Novgorod residents love to come here to relax, engage in sports, and today they happily cheered for chess players of all ages, especially since they played outdoors," emphasized Anton Yermakov.

Sergey Karjakin also noted the beauty of the park: "The 'Switzerland' park in Nizhny Novgorod is wonderful, very beautiful, and well-maintained." The grandmaster also gave advice to beginner chess players. "I want to wish all five-year-olds, six-year-olds, seven-year-olds, and everyone – at any age to engage and win! So that chess becomes an important aspect in the life of every child. Not everyone may be destined to become a world champion, but not everyone needs to be. The most important thing is for children to learn to think logically, calculate many steps ahead, and develop their intellectual potential," summarized Sergey Karjakin.
