More than 15,000 participants gathered for the project "Science in Every Step" at the celebration of "Youth Day 2026" in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      More than 15,000 participants gathered for the events of the "Science in Every Step" project during the "Youth Day-2026" in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The project was implemented by the regional government with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia as part of the Decade of Science and Technology for the first time. The central venue was the Alexandrovsky Garden. Here, on the "Shell" stage, a theatrical experiment took place — the play "Premonition" directed by Mikhail Meshcheryakov, staged by the Center for Theatrical Mastery. The playwright Anastasia Ermolova wrote the script based on interviews with Nizhny Novgorod scientists. The production, dedicated to the state of the researcher on the brink of discovery, featured actors Maxim Beloshankin and Ekaterina Druzhkova, as well as the collaborative robot Elite Robot from the company "VR Robotics." The musical and choreographic parts were created by composer Yegor Savel'yanov and choreographer Svetlana Shuyskaya. There was also a science popularization stand-up show, featuring science popularizer, journalist of the "Science" channel Alexey Egorov and stand-up comedian Pavel Dedishchev. In a humorous dialogue format, they discussed the role of science in travel, discoveries, and everyday life. This format, used for the first time, allowed humor to demonstrate that scientific thinking works beyond laboratories and is accessible for understanding by a wide audience. On the same stage, a musical and dance show "Evolution of Sound" took place with the participation of the dance group JoyKey, the folk group "Bagryanitsa," and the jazz ensemble Jazz Underground Quintet. The program was a visual exploration of the development of music from folk roots to modern electronic genres. Accompanying scientific commentary revealed acoustic features, the evolution of sound perception, and the influence of technology on musical culture. The project leaders and directors are Maxim Kudrin and Artem Novikov. "The Day of Russian Youth is annually supplemented with new formats and expands the circle of partners. The interests of the younger generation are diverse, and this year we see how successfully the program has integrated a theatrical experiment, stand-up, and a musical show with scientific content. Such formats allow us to talk about scientific achievements vividly and modernly, attracting attention to the professional field, where the number of young researchers is increasing every year," noted the Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod region Svetlana Anufrieva. Throughout the festive day in the Alexandrovsky Garden, as part of the "Science in Every Step" project, an "Engineering Tent" with a VR zone from the "NEIMARK" University and the Volga State Academy of Water Transport operated. Outdoors, instructors from the "Classical Yoga" Center conducted yoga sessions accompanied by a lecture from young scientists of PIMU on the impact of physical activity on the body. There was a space at the festival where guests could create souvenirs to remember. A separate block of the educational program unfolded at the "Mayak" Academy. Young scientists from HSE Nizhny Novgorod, the Privolzhsky Research Medical University, and Lobachevsky University conducted interactive lectures, while the "Moltbert" studio organized a master class on creating futuristic paintings. Simultaneously, in Vyksa, an excursion program was organized for schoolchildren and students: a walking route through the historical center and a visit to the Vyksa Metallurgical Plant, where participants learned about the application of scientific developments in industry. Admission to all events was free, and the finalists of the scientific quest received souvenir sets dedicated to Nizhny Novgorod science.

      "Scientific achievements surround us every day. Our project 'Science in Every Step' shows how they are connected to everyday life and, importantly, awakens interest in research activities. This is also facilitated by routes of science popularization tourism — there are already 13 of them in the Nizhny Novgorod region," emphasized the head of the Decade of Science and Technology in the region, Ekaterina Gorshenina. Let us remind you that the period from 2022 to 2031 has been declared the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia by the decree of President Vladimir Putin. The main tasks of the Decade are to attract talented youth to the field of research and development, engage researchers and developers in solving the most important tasks of societal and national development, as well as raise awareness among Russians about the achievements and prospects of domestic science.
