In the village of Diveevo in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the body of a man born in 1999 was retrieved from the Vichkinza River. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) for the region. According to preliminary data, the young man was intoxicated before his death. All circumstances surrounding the incident are currently being investigated. The regional MES reminds about water safety rules. Swimming should only be done in designated areas—on beaches, in pools, or bathing spots. Under no circumstances should one enter the water while intoxicated: this is especially dangerous in hot weather. Rescuers also warn that it is better to stay in the water for no longer than 10-15 minutes, as hypothermia can lead to cramps. One should not jump or dive in unfamiliar places—one could hit the bottom, a log, or a pile. Additionally, children should not be left unattended near the water, and caution is advised when swimming on inflatable mattresses and toys.
