The agency clarified that the information about the shift of the ban's effective date to March 1, 2027, is incorrect and appeared due to an error in the publication of an incorrect document. The official source confirms: the deadlines have not changed, and the regional restrictions will come into force on the previously announced date — September 1, 2026. To recall the context: the federal law on licensing the circulation of tobacco and nicotine-containing products granted the subjects of the Russian Federation the right to impose a ban on the retail sale of vapes. At the federal level, the deadline for introducing such measures is set from March 1, 2027, to March 1, 2032, however, the Nizhny Novgorod region decided to introduce regional restrictions earlier. Earlier, Governor Gleb Nikitin stated that vapes should disappear from shelves "on the very first day" when this becomes possible. Medical experts warn about the risks to the lungs with regular use of vapes: vapor can cause serious damage to the respiratory system and irreversible changes in lung tissue.
