A Nizhny Novgorod resident was detained for an attack with a knife on Gagarin Avenue.

      On June 24, 2026, at 15:22, incidents occurred in Nizhny Novgorod, where a criminal case was initiated following a conflict on Gagarin Avenue, during which one of the participants sustained a knife wound. This was reported by the regional department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (SKR).

      On the evening of June 22, a quarrel broke out between two previously unfamiliar men. During the altercation, one of them stabbed his opponent in the stomach and fled the scene.

      The victim was taken to the hospital, where he received medical assistance. The man survived.

      Soon, the suspect was apprehended—a 39-year-old local resident. The Investigative Committee initiated a case against him under the article for attempted murder.

      The question of the preventive measure is currently being decided. By law, such a crime is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

      Earlier, it was reported that the investigation into the criminal case against a man accused of making threats of murder and attempted murder had been completed—he inflicted at least 20 knife wounds to the face and body of his acquaintance.
