"There are ups and downs": Kabailo spoke about the situation in Nizhny Novgorod sports

The Minister of Sports of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Dmitry Kabailo, commented on the concerns of residents regarding the results of regional teams and the closure of several clubs. According to him, there are no grounds to speak of the "death" of sports in the region.

The response was prompted by a user's appeal on VK, who expressed sharp criticism about the state of affairs. He voiced dissatisfaction with the season results for Nizhny Novgorod clubs and reminded about the closure of BC "Pari NN."

"All sports are dying in the city. First, FC 'Pari NN' was relegated from the best league in the world. Then the basketball club suspended its existence," wrote Alexander K.

The author of the message also wondered whether the hockey club "Torpedo" would be next under threat. Dmitry Kabailo emphasized in response that such fluctuations in results are absolutely typical for big sports.

"All teams go through different periods - there are ups and downs. Of course, we would like all our clubs to play in the top divisions and show the best results. But this is sports, and that’s normal," the minister stated.

Recall that in May, the management of HC "Torpedo" decided to close the farm club "Torpedo-Gorky" for financial reasons. A year earlier, the women's hockey team ceased to exist.

In addition, BC "Pari NN" was recently closed. The decision was made by the club and regional authorities after analyzing the financial situation. As Kabailo explained, the difficulties affected not only the club itself but also its partners and potential sponsors. Meanwhile, the youth team will continue to participate in the Unified Youth League of the VTB, and in the future, the possibility of "Pari NN" returning to the Unified League of the VTB is not excluded.

At the same time, the situation with HC "Start's" participation in the Russian championship remains uncertain. The first vice-president of the Russian Ball Hockey Federation, Evgeny Ivanushkin, reported existing financial problems for the team.
