The court issued a verdict for the perpetrator of the traffic accident that resulted in four fatalities in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      June 22, 2026 11:22 Incidents The perpetrator of a terrible traffic accident, in which four people died, has faced the law in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the unified press service of the courts of general jurisdiction in the region. The accident occurred in July 2024 on the Rabotki - Poretskoye highway. The man exceeded the speed limit and lost control, causing the car to skid and veer into oncoming traffic, where it collided with two vehicles. The driver of one of the vehicles, as well as two of his passengers, died at the scene. Additionally, a woman who was in the perpetrator's car died in the hospital from her injuries. A criminal case has been initiated under part 5 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (traffic violation resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence). The court sentenced the man to 3.5 years of imprisonment in a settlement colony, as well as to a two-year ban on engaging in activities related to the operation of vehicles. Furthermore, the convicted individual will pay compensation for moral damages to the victims in the total amount of 2,910,000 rubles. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
