Nizhny Novgorod authorities explained the reasons for temporary disruptions in gasoline supply at gas stations.

      June 22, 2026 16:27 Economy Fuel supplies at oil depots in the Nizhny Novgorod region remain sufficient, and disruptions in gasoline supply are exclusively temporary. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Energy and Housing and Utilities. The situation is exacerbated by logistical difficulties in delivering fuel from oil depots. These are related, among other things, to temporary restrictions on fuel dispensing during drone attack alerts, as well as an increase in shipments to other regions of Russia. Additionally, there is a noted rise in the number of consumers from neighboring regions.

      "The emerging disruptions are caused by a surge in demand, which has recently increased by 150%, and consequently the rapid depletion of fuel storage at gas stations," the ministry noted.

      The agency emphasized that the network gas stations of the largest players, such as Lukoil, Gazpromneft, Tatneft, and Teboil, are operating as usual. Prices at their pumps remain stable. Moreover, Lukoil has already increased its fleet of fuel tankers to expedite the replenishment of tanks. Restrictions on fuel dispensing remain at certain gas stations in 11 municipalities where there are no stations of vertically integrated companies. This is due to increased demand, disruptions in logistics chains, and rising procurement prices from several suppliers.

      Since June 19, there have been cases of price gouging at franchised gas stations. Their owners set prices independently, based on market conditions and the purchase price from traders. To stabilize the situation, authorities have ensured that independent gas stations can enter into direct contracts with a major oil trader for gasoline supply.

      Additionally, to stabilize the situation in the region, daily monitoring of fuel availability is organized both at oil depots and gas stations. Meetings of the regional headquarters for ensuring the supply of petroleum products to the region are held twice a week.
