About 270 km of roads leading to hospitals in the Nizhny Novgorod region will be repaired by the end of September 2026. This includes 46 sections in 24 districts and areas, as reported by the regional government citing the State Road Administration.
The repairs will make trips more comfortable for both local residents and emergency medical technicians. The work will be carried out as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life." A program has already been approved, under which the road surface will be updated on the approaches to medical institutions in Bogorodsk, Gagin, Kovernin, Sosnovsk, and Shakhunya. Additionally, road repairs are planned for hospitals in Sukhobezvodnoye, Vili in the Vyksunsky district, and Oktyabrsky in the Bor district, the anti-tuberculosis dispensary in Semyonov, the Sokolska CRH clinic, as well as the Blizhneborisovskaya, Novolikeevskaya, and Prokoshevskaya ambulatory clinics in the Kstovo district. In the Dalenekonstantinovsky district, the approaches to the Andreevsky FAP in Chkalovsk and the hospital in Surovati will be repaired.
On the aforementioned sections, road workers will lay new asphalt, apply markings, strengthen the shoulders, and install new road signs. During the repairs, there will be no way to avoid closures; however, emergency services, such as ambulances and fire trucks, will be able to pass. "Repairing such roads is a direct concern for the health and safety of the region's residents," said Acting Director of the State Road Administration Alexander Denisov.
As part of the national project, road repairs have been ongoing for several years. Over the past seven years, at least 6,600 km of roads have been repaired, and about 140 km have been built or modernized. Plans are often exceeded: in 2025, instead of the planned 626 km, 761 km of roads were brought into order.
