A woman from Nizhny Novgorod with a criminal case due to confusion over bank cards has given birth to a daughter.

      Nizhny Novgorod resident Evgenia Gubanova, who became a subject of a case after accidentally paying for purchases with someone else's bank card, has given birth to a daughter. This was reported by the human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova.

      Recall that the situation became public in May 2026. The girl, in her ninth month of pregnancy, mistakenly paid with a colleague's unnamed bank card at a pharmacy and grocery store. After all circumstances were clarified, the money was returned, but the charges against Evgenia were not dropped.

      In Moscow, she was placed under a travel restriction, so she could not go to the Nizhny Novgorod maternity hospital with which a contract had been signed. The problem was resolved after Yana Lantratova intervened. She appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to consider the circumstances of the case and make a decision based on the principle of humanitarianism. As a result, the girl was able to travel to Nizhny Novgorod. "Today I received a message from her: 'On 16.06, my daughter Vasilisa was born.' I sincerely congratulate Evgenia! May Vasilisa grow up healthy and happy. And may there be as much good and warmth in her life as possible," wrote Yana Lantratova.
