Nizhny Novgorod doctors performed a unique surgery on a volleyball player from Luhansk.

      On June 21, 2026, at 12:34, Society A rare operation was performed in Nizhny Novgorod on a professional volleyball player from Luhansk, who suffered from a constant ankle joint subluxation. This was reported on social media by healthcare representative Alexey Nikonov. Such a problem is often encountered by both athletes and in everyday life; however, for a professional, it significantly complicates training and participation in competitions. To restore joint stability, an operation was performed using the Artrobrostrom technique. Outside of Nizhny Novgorod, such interventions are not conducted in Russia, so the athlete had to travel from Luhansk for treatment. According to traumatologist Alexey Krupko, the intervention is performed using a minimally invasive method—through two small punctures under video control. This allows for complete visualization of the joint, precise strengthening of the ligaments, and significantly reduces recovery time. The patient is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
