A resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region lost 4 million rubles while helping a friend.

      On June 21, 2026, at 09:45, Society - A 45-year-old resident of Volodarsk became a victim of fraudsters, transferring more than four million rubles to unknown accounts. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. The woman decided to help her friend, who allegedly could not independently withdraw income from investments. The friend asked for assistance in conducting financial transactions. Soon, the bank accounts of the participants were blocked. After that, unknown individuals, posing as employees of a brokerage firm, convinced the victim that in order to unblock the accounts, it was necessary to transfer her personal savings to the accounts they specified. Then, under the pretext of completing the withdrawal procedure, the woman was persuaded to take out a loan for almost one million rubles and also transfer money. However, access to the income from the investments was never obtained. The total damage amounted to more than 4 million rubles. A criminal case has been initiated under part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). Law enforcement is currently identifying the individuals involved in the crime.
