The fence collapsed on a pregnant woman from Nizhny Novgorod at the metro construction site.

      On June 18, 2026, at 08:04, incidents occurred when elements of a construction fence collapsed onto a pregnant woman near the site of the future metro station in Nizhny Novgorod. The incident happened on the evening of June 16, when a squally wind swept through the city.

      According to media reports, the victim was heading to work along Raduzhnaya Street. Suddenly, an unsecured part of the fence fell on her, causing the woman to fall.

      The company "Mosproject 3" informed NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" that the cause of the incident was adverse weather conditions. According to the company, strong winds damaged temporary shields with banners attached to them.

      Currently, the fence has been restored, and decorative canvases have been dismantled to reduce the sail effect of the structure. The organization also stated its intention to further check the reliability of all fastenings in the near future.

      The construction contractor for the metro also noted that they had not received any official complaints from the victims and apologized for the incident.

      Additionally, an inspection regarding the incident was initiated by the MKU "GUMMiD". The agency will assess whether safety regulations were followed at the site. If violations are confirmed, the general contractor may face a fine.
