Nizhny Novgorod killer Turkin brutally murdered a Ukrainian maniac in the colony.

      In the special regime colony No. 1 in Mordovia, 43-year-old Nizhny Novgorod resident Sergey Turkin, serving a life sentence, killed his cellmate. The victim was 52-year-old Ukrainian maniac Alexander Duga. As reported by the Telegram channel SHOT, the men had long-standing tense relations. One of the reasons for the conflict was Duga's health condition: he suffered severely from musculoskeletal issues and moved with great difficulty, which greatly irritated Turkin. During another quarrel, the Nizhny Novgorod resident attacked his neighbor: he began to strangle him, broke his larynx and hyoid bone, and then delivered a fatal blow with the lid of the toilet tank. The victim was immediately taken to the colony's medical unit, but the doctors could not save him. Turkin has a history of serious crimes. In 2017, he received nearly 7 years for attempted murder, later his sentence was increased to 17.5 years for the repeated rape of a minor. He was then proven to be involved in a double murder in 2013—the murder of a man and a helpless elderly woman. According to him, he killed the man out of revenge and the pensioner as a witness. As a result, the court replaced his sentence with life imprisonment and sent him to a special regime colony. Alexander Duga received life imprisonment for the murder of a family. In 2003, in Donetsk, he hacked his wife to death with an axe, the next day—his five-year-old daughter, and then his father-in-law. After that, he arranged a family crypt in the yard and stole valuables and documents for real estate from his father-in-law's house. For this crime, Turkin, who was already serving a life sentence for a series of brutal episodes, was given an additional 12 years of imprisonment. It was previously reported that the accused of murdering the son of a former deputy in Shakhunya disappeared before the verdict was announced.
