A competition for garbage truck drivers was held in Nizhny Novgorod.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, an annual professional skills competition among garbage truck drivers took place at a specialized racetrack. Twenty-nine drivers from the regional operator "Nizhekologiya-NN" competed for the title of the best in the profession. The competition, which has become a tradition, aims not only to identify the strongest but also to raise the prestige of working professions. "The job of a garbage truck driver is a colossal stress and responsibility. By holding this competition, we give our employees the opportunity to showcase their professional skills and expertise that they apply daily in their work, removing waste from narrow urban yards. We see that our drivers are real aces, capable of maneuvering a 15-ton vehicle with centimeter precision," noted Andrey Parshin, director of LLC "Nizhekologiya-NN."

      Participants in the competition had to navigate all obstacles and demonstrate impeccable control of the dimensions of heavy vehicles. Drivers performed classic exercises such as "Slalom," parking in a garage, passing through a tunnel and along a rut, as well as demonstrating the loading of containers into a heavy vehicle. Judges recorded the time taken to complete the course and assigned penalty points for touching the barriers. "This year, we decided to complicate the task at each stage. In the theoretical task, no more than three mistakes were allowed; otherwise, you would not be admitted to the practical part. Accordingly, mistakes during the trials incurred more penalty points," said Oksana Styazhkov, director of the transportation company.

      According to the drivers themselves, one of the most challenging tasks is installing tires using the vehicle's probe. "It's one thing when you can place one tire on the edge of another by hand. Here, you have to do it while operating the equipment. A slight or sudden movement, and that's it—the tire falls. You start over, all the while thinking that time is passing, and you need to complete the task faster. Therefore, you need to feel the equipment, be on 'friendly terms' with it," shared garbage truck driver Stanislav Maslov.

      As a result of the competition, the best garbage truck driver, having completed all tasks the fastest and with the fewest mistakes, was Vladimir Bakulin; the best bunker truck driver was Sergey Sanakin; the best scrap truck driver was Stanislav Maslov; the best multi-lift driver was Vadim Lozhkin; and the best dump truck driver was Sergey Vinokurov. The winners received a cash prize and the opportunity to represent the company at the regional stage of the competition.

      Let us remind you that in 2022, the competition was recognized at the federal level, and the regional operator "Nizhekologiya-NN" became a finalist for the "Green Prize," established by the Russian Environmental Operator.
