      The City Duma of Nizhny Novgorod will consider a draft regulation on deputy ethics, which outlines the norms of behavior for elected representatives. The relevant document has appeared on the municipal parliament's portal. The regulation states that deputies must adhere to moral and ethical standards, avoiding statements that could harm the honor, dignity, and business reputation of others. During meetings, elected representatives should address their interlocutors in an official manner, demonstrate politeness, and not threaten one another. During speeches, they should speak only on the matter under consideration.

      The document also specifies requirements for the public activities of deputies. When speaking at mass events or before journalists, only reliable information should be used. Statements in such circumstances should not infringe upon the honor, dignity, and business reputation of citizens, officials, and legal entities.

      Measures of influence are provided for violations of the requirements. For example, at a parliamentary meeting, a violator should be called to adhere to ethical norms, offered to apologize, or deprived of the right to speak at the current meeting. The issue of non-compliance with the norms may be brought to the consideration of the City Duma Council.
