A resident of Balakhna was sent to a colony for drunk driving for the fourth time.

      June 17, 2026 15:16 Incidents A local resident, who has been brought to criminal responsibility for the fourth time for driving a vehicle while intoxicated, was sentenced in Balakhna. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Nizhny Novgorod region. It was established that in November of last year, the man, who had previously been convicted multiple times for similar offenses, was driving his own car through the streets of the city while in an intoxicated state. He was stopped by traffic police, and the examination confirmed the presence of alcohol in his body. The court found the driver guilty under part 2 of article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle by a person in a state of intoxication who has a criminal record for a similar offense). He was sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony. In addition, the man was deprived of the right to engage in activities related to the operation of vehicles for a period of 5 years and 11 months.
