The tourist potential of Chkalovsk was presented in Moscow.
On June 15, 2026, at 19:17, Society In the Moscow city branch of the Russian Geographical Society, a presentation of the tourist potential of Chkalovsk took place. Guests were introduced to the project "Wings of the Golden Ring," dedicated to the tourist opportunities of the municipal district. Participants of the event included representatives from the tourism industry, government authorities, public organizations, experts, and potential partners. Among the guests were also relatives of famous Soviet aviators: granddaughter of Alexander Belyakov, Anna Chupilkin, granddaughter of Mikhail Vodopyanov, Maria Vodopyanova, and relative of Georgy Baidukov, Dmitry Khaustov. During the presentation, the route "Chkalovsk - the city of winged dreams" was introduced, which familiarizes tourists with the life of Valery Chkalov, the history of domestic aviation, and the development of ekranoplan construction. Additionally, participants were informed about the tourist programs "Hold the Helm," "Speed Vector," and "Craftsman's Sloboda." These projects unite museums, tourist centers, enterprises of the district, and objects of folk arts and crafts. State Duma Deputy Artem Kavinov noted that today Chkalovsk is not only the homeland of the legendary pilot but also a territory with a rich history, museum heritage, craft traditions, and significant tourist potential. According to him, the inclusion of Chkalovsk and Purekh in the route "Golden Ring of Russia" opens up additional opportunities for the development of tourism, entrepreneurship, and the hospitality sector. A separate block of the presentation was dedicated to the route "Purekh. This is how Russia sounds," which introduces the historical and cultural heritage of one of the oldest villages in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The project of the cultural and historical center "Hotel Aviator" was also presented. The head of the local government of the district, Lyubov Vladimirova, emphasized that the inclusion of Chkalovsk and Purekh in the route "Golden Ring of Russia" was the result of many years of work on preserving historical heritage and developing tourist infrastructure. She noted that the history of Chkalov land continues to live not only in museum exhibitions but also in traditions, people, and modern projects. According to Vladimirova, the authorities strive to create conditions under which guests can get to know the territory and its history more deeply. At the end of the event, participants discussed the prospects for cooperation, the creation of new tourist routes, and the promotion of the Chkalov district at the federal level. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko announced the expansion of the "Golden Ring" route. The updated list from the Nizhny Novgorod region includes Arzamas, Bogorodsk, Vyksa, Gorodets, Diveevo, Nizhny Novgorod, Pavlovo, Purekh, Chkalovsk, and Bolshoye Boldino.
