The Ministry of Ecology confirmed the mass death of fish in the Bolshie Boldino district.

      On June 15, 2026, at 18:26, Incidents The situation of mass fish deaths in the Bolshie Boldino district is under the control of the Ministry of Ecology of the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by the press service of the agency.

      Recall that fish deaths were observed in the Saly River near the village of Apraxin. Local residents drew attention to the problem, suggesting that waste might have appeared after a manure spill from a facility in the village of Kudejarovka, which is located upstream.

      The unified dispatch service reported the incident to the regional offices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Ministry of Ecology. Representatives of the ministry conducted an on-site inspection, during which traces of the liquid fraction of livestock waste were found on the adjacent land plot. However, no signs of contamination entering the river or fish deaths in Kudejarovka were detected.

      Specialists collected water samples and sent them for analysis. The fact of fish deaths in the village of Apraxin, confirmed by agency employees, is under investigation.

      The inspection materials will be sent to the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage in the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Republic of Mordovia for action within their competence, as federal authorities oversee the activities of the facility, the Ministry of Ecology stated.
