Breast cancer was found in a woman from Nizhny Novgorod after an examination of the thyroid gland.

      On June 16, 2026, at 16:43 Society A resident of the Shcherbinki microdistrict in Nizhny Novgorod was found to have early-stage breast cancer during a health check-up she was undergoing for another reason. This was reported by medical expert Alexey Nikonov on his MAX channel. The woman visited clinic No. 1 in the Priokskiy district due to discomfort in the thyroid area. At the same time, she had no complaints related to her breasts. The patient did not report any pain or lumps. According to the doctors, the woman had previously regularly refused to undergo mammography, considering the examination unnecessary if there were no alarming symptoms. However, during the health check-up, the doctors convinced her to undergo the examination. The examination revealed the presence of a tumor about two centimeters in size. Subsequently, the diagnosis was confirmed - the patient was found to have cancer at an early stage. Thanks to timely diagnosis, treatment was able to begin without delay. Clinic No. 1 reminded that breast cancer often develops asymptomatically in the early stages. Earlier, oncologist Sergey Gamayunov urged even healthy people to undergo health check-ups. Since 2025, at the direction of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a national project "Long and Active Life" has been implemented.
