Almost 10,000 budget places have been allocated in Nizhny Novgorod universities in 2026.

      On June 16, 2026, 17:40 Society 9.7 thousand budget places and more than 15 thousand non-budget places are available to applicants in Nizhny Novgorod universities in 2026. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the region, Lyubov Shirokova, at a press conference on June 16, which was attended by a correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod." According to the deputy minister, this year less than 13 thousand people are graduating from schools in the region.

      Almost three-quarters of our graduates will be able to enroll in budget places. We have also often heard unfounded concerns from applicants and their parents that it will be even more difficult to enroll in non-budget places now. This is absolutely not true, at least in our region, - emphasized Lyubov Shirokova.

      At NGLU named after Dobrolyubov, about 450 budget places are opened in 2026, including postgraduate studies. Rector Nikita Avralev noted that their number has increased. This is especially noticeable in the full-time department.

      For the first time in many years, budget places have returned for international relations, - shared the head of the university.

      Director of the Presidential Academy, Ekaterina Lebedeva, noted the increased interest in the university. Last year, the number of applications increased by almost 50%. This year, the number of budget places has increased to 209. The university is ready to accept a total of 2233 applicants, which is almost 300 more than last year. The director of the Career Guidance Center of Minin University, Galina Melnikova, also shared statistics, noting that the number of applicants has increased from 7.5 to 9 thousand people over the year. This year, the university may open its doors to 2937 applicants. There are 1321 budget places available at the university for all levels of education, and the targeted quota covered 222 places.
