June 14, 2026 13:46 Incidents A fire at the waste transfer station "Tainoe" of AO "Sitimatik-Nizhny Novgorod" in the Bor urban district has been localized over an area of 2500 square meters. This was reported by the press service of the regional operator for solid municipal waste management. The fire occurred on the evening of June 13. Firefighting units were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the blaze. Eight units of special equipment were involved in the operations. Firefighters, together with landfill staff, conducted dousing of hotspots in the waste piles. According to the company, by 7:00 AM on June 14, open flames had been localized, and visible flames were completely extinguished. "Sitimatik-Nizhny Novgorod" emphasized that the situation is under control. There are no casualties as a result of the incident. They also assured that there is no threat to the population and the environment. To complete the firefighting operations (in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations), the delivery of soil from the "Gorodets" compaction site has been organized. Additionally, an excavator will be relocated to the site to increase the efficiency of the work. Currently, the security service of the regional operator is reviewing surveillance camera footage to determine the possible causes of the incident. Earlier, Rosprirodnadzor fined AO "Sitimatik - Nizhny Novgorod" for violations of environmental protection requirements at the "Tainoe" waste transfer station.
