      On June 14, 2026, at 10:14 AM, Society Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region can participate in the competition for the International Humanitarian Prize "Conscience" named after Albert Likhanov. It is awarded for the development of charity in the interests of children. The prize was established by the Russian Children's Fund and the Albert Likhanov Foundation. This year it will be held for the third time. "We hold the 'Conscience' prize in memory of the outstanding writer and public figure Albert Anatolyevich Likhanov, in support of that small cohort of people who care about the pain of others, and the word 'conscience' is not an outdated anachronism. With this prize, we will not only express our public admiration for them but also try to prove to society that this word should become the quintessence of any human existence," noted Dmitry Likhanov, chairman of the Russian Children's Fund. Every year, the organizing committee receives hundreds of nominations from most regions of the country. The candidates include representatives from various sectors of society: educators, doctors, social workers, cultural and artistic figures, military personnel, philanthropists, and volunteers. Among the winners of the "Conscience" prize in 2024 and 2025 are hero mother Tatiana Sorokina, who raised over 80 foster children, Valentin Dikul, the creator of the first rehabilitation center for children with the consequences of cerebral palsy in the country, and Evgeny Zhilitsyn, head of the orthopedic and trauma department for children at the Republican Trauma Center of the DPR, who has operated on over 1,000 children with gunshot and mine-explosive injuries. In 2026, the prize will be awarded in the categories "Mercy and Care," "Charity," "Spiritual Protection," "For Peace and Life," and "Art for Good." Participants will also have the opportunity to receive a special prize in literature and journalism. The grand prize winner for outstanding contributions to the protection of childhood will receive a statuette in the shape of a tear. Laureates will be awarded medals and commemorative diplomas. The winners will be chosen by a jury, which includes Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev, director Andrei Konchalovsky, First Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Hero of Russia Vyacheslav Bocharov, rector of the Church of St. Nicholas in Tolmachi at the Tretyakov Gallery, Archpriest Nikolai Sokolov, artistic director of the Russian Academic Youth Theater, People's Artist of Russia Alexei Borodin, and People's Artist of Russia Academician Vasily Nesterенко. In 2026, applications for the prize can be submitted from June 24 to August 15. The right to nominate candidates is granted to Russian state and public organizations, beneficiaries, and children's charitable organizations (including those from friendly countries). The names of the laureates will be announced by September 13, 2026, the birthday of A. Likhanov. The award ceremony will take place in Moscow on the birthday of the foundation, October 14, 2026.
