Young residents of Nizhny Novgorod were solemnly presented with their first passports on the eve of Russia Day.
On June 11, 2026, at 10:28 AM, Society In Nizhny Novgorod, a solemn ceremony for the issuance of passports of the Russian Federation took place at the United Russia Public Support Headquarters. The event was part of the All-Russian program "We are Citizens of Russia!" of the First Movement and was timed to coincide with Russia Day.
Ten young residents of Nizhny Novgorod from various municipalities of the region received the main document of a citizen of the country. Among them are winners and prize-winners of sports competitions, creative contests, participants in volunteer and patriotic projects, and activists of the First Movement.
"Receiving the first passport is a special event in the life of every person. Along with new rights comes the responsibility for one's actions, for one's future, for the future of one's country. It is especially pleasant that today passports are being received by young people who have already achieved success in studies, sports, creativity, and public activities. I am sure that they have many more achievements ahead that the Nizhny Novgorod region and all of Russia will be proud of," noted Olga Shchetinina.
The participants of the ceremony were congratulated by the senator of the Russian Federation, head of the United Russia Public Support Headquarters in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Olga Shchetinina, and the acting head of the Migration Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, police colonel Vyacheslav Kutyenko.
"The passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation is not just a document. It is a confirmation of your belonging to a great country with a rich history and great traditions. I wish each of you to honorably bear the title of a citizen of Russia, respect the laws, cherish your homeland, and confidently pursue your goals," addressed Vyacheslav Kutyenko to the participants of the ceremony.
During the ceremony, the young citizens took a solemn oath to be patriots of their country, to live by the principles of goodness and justice, to work for the benefit of Russia, and to take responsibility for its future.
"The issuance of a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation to a young person entering adulthood is both responsible and opens not only new opportunities but also lays the foundations of their rights, introduces them to the rules of adult life, and undoubtedly defines a range of responsibilities before them. It is important for us that the presentation of the main document in a solemn atmosphere is not just remembered by the kids and becomes a certain emotional state, but also instills confidence in their actions, deeds, and desire to become an example for someone as early as tomorrow," shared Vyacheslav Amosov, Chairman of the Council of the regional branch of the First Movement in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
One of the holders of the first passport was Artem Karpushin from Nizhny Novgorod, a prize-winner of regional and all-Russian competitions, and an active participant in the projects of the First Movement.
"For me, receiving the passport is a very important and exciting moment. This is an event that will be remembered for a lifetime. It is nice to receive my first passport in such a solemn atmosphere, on the eve of Russia Day. It gives a sense of pride for my country and an understanding that now I am becoming more mature and responsible," shared Artem Karpushin.
In addition, a master class on making kokoshniks in the Russian folk style was held at the Headquarters. It became part of the festive program dedicated to Russia Day and allowed participants to touch upon the traditions and cultural heritage of our country.
