MegaFon has increased the resilience of its infrastructure with the help of a new solution for the backbone network.

On June 11, 2026, at 11:47 Society The operator has increased the efficiency of infrastructure use by launching a trunk line based on compact 400G transceivers for the first time. The new solution quadruples the channel capacity while reducing the construction costs of such lines by six times. The classic scheme for building trunk channels in mobile networks involves the use of routers that determine where data flows should be directed and expensive DWDM transponders that transmit information over fiber optic cables. The operator's engineers optimized the process of organizing trunk channels using compact transceivers produced by the domestic company "Neoros." They perform the functions of transponders but are installed directly in the router, which has reduced the cost of creating new channels by six times. The new technical solution is particularly effective in sections of trunk lines with high traffic concentration, which is why the pilot channel connected MegaFon data centers in Moscow. Huge amounts of information flow between them, including user and technological traffic and data from cloud solutions for business clients. The transceivers allowed for a fourfold increase in the trunk channel capacity, which reduced latency, increased data transfer speeds for subscribers, and lowered the risk of overloads. "We are consistently improving the architecture of the trunk network to meet current requirements. The use of the new solution allows us to build high-speed channels between key sites faster and more efficiently, forming a technological foundation for further infrastructure development. The next step will be to scale the project to other data centers across the country," said MegaFon's Technical Director Alexey Titov. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
