The Nizhny Novgorod athlete won three medals at the Russian Championship in Paralympic dressage.
Artyom Fyodorov is only 13 years old, making him the youngest participant in the competition. A student of the city zoo center "Nadezhda," Artyom Fyodorov has become a three-time medalist at the Russian Championship in Paralympic dressage. The young athlete from Nizhny Novgorod impressed everyone not only with his sporting ambitions but also with his age, which did not hinder him from achieving such a high result. This was reported by the city head Yuri Shalabaev on his social media, congratulating the athlete. "Competing among the most experienced riders in the country, the youngest participant in the competition – Artyom is only 13 years old – demonstrated incredible will to win. The Nizhny Novgorod athlete won two bronze medals in the "Grand Prix. Test A" and "Grand Prix. Test B" events, as well as a silver medal in the freestyle program. For this, the athlete was awarded the title of "candidate for master of sports." I congratulate the athlete and his loyal assistant, the horse Jolina!" – wrote the mayor. The city head also emphasized that the high result of Artyom was made possible by the dedication and professional skills of the zoo center instructors Irina Asyanina and Elena Trifonova. "At the championship, our coaches completed a training course on 'Sports-Functional Classification in Paralympic Equestrian Sports,' which gives them the right to classify athletes with musculoskeletal disorders. Currently, there are only 10 such specialists in Russia!" – added Yuri Shalabaev. The Department of Social Policy noted that the competition featured the strongest athletes in the country. The performances of the riders were judged by judges of national and international categories. Along with Artyom, the team from the Nizhny Novgorod region also included athletes from the zoo center "Nadezhda," Nina Yamina and Tatyana Minokhina. The director of the Department of Social Policy, Galina Gurenko, emphasized that Artyom Fyodorov's result is an important achievement not only for the athlete himself but also for our entire city. "Artyom's performance at the Russian Championship is an example of strong character, systematic work, and true sporting perseverance. Paralympic dressage requires high concentration from the athlete, trust in the horse, precision of movements, and great inner composure. We are proud that a student of the zoo center 'Nadezhda' was able to represent Nizhny Novgorod with dignity at such a high-level competition. This is a significant victory for Artyom, his coaches, and the entire team that stands by him every day," – said Galina Gurenko. The director of the municipal center "Nadezhda," Nikolai Bankov, reminded that the zoo center "Nadezhda," with the support of the city head Yuri Shalabaev, is actively developing areas related to health, sports, educational, and social work with children. "Special attention is paid to creating conditions in which children can reveal their abilities, strengthen their health, develop responsibility, confidence, and achieve personal sports results. The development of the Paralympic movement is of great importance for motivating and supporting athletes with musculoskeletal disorders, expanding opportunities for adaptive equestrian sports, and preparing participants for competitions of various levels," – he added.
It should be noted that the municipal zoo center "Nadezhda" has become a true forge of sports and personal victories for children with developmental disabilities. In October last year, its students brought home six medals from the All-Russian Spartakiad in equestrian sports, and in March of this year – a medal from the Russian Cup in Paralympic dressage. This was the first time Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod region participated in these competitions.
