      June 9, 2026 17:52 Society Information about complaints from vacationers regarding cercarial bites while swimming in the lake in the Sormovsky district has been forwarded to the regional veterinary committee. This was reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by the press service of the regional Rospotrebnadzor. Specialists will conduct water tests. If the results are positive, local government authorities will be required to take measures: swimming in the water body will be prohibited, and appropriate signs will be placed in the area. The disease, caused by the larvae of flatworms, triggers a strong allergic reaction in the body. Re-infection can lead to anaphylaxis.
