18 people have drowned in the Nizhny Novgorod region since the beginning of the year.

      June 10, 2026 11:03 Incidents Since the beginning of 2026, 24 incidents have been registered in the region on water bodies. This is 15% less than in the same period last year; however, the number of fatalities has significantly increased. This was announced at a press conference by the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations, reports a correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."

      According to the agency, since the beginning of the year, 18 people have died in water (10 in 2025, an increase of 70%). At the same time, 13 people were rescued. Among the deceased are two children.

      The Ministry of Emergency Situations emphasizes that the main reason for incidents involving minors remains the lack of proper supervision by parents and adults.

      The safety of people on water bodies is primarily assessed by the number of incidents, the number of fatalities, and accidents involving small vessels.
