A network of free running centers will be created in Russia.
The Chairman of the All-Russian Athletics Federation, Pyotr Fradkov, presented to the Minister of Sports of Russia, Mikhail Degtyarev, a project for the creation of a network of free running centers. The presentation took place on June 4 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (18+). At the VFLA stand, the head of the Ministry of Sports was shown a model of the future facility, as well as informed about the project's concept, implementation stages, and the development of running infrastructure in the regions. The construction of the first centers has already begun, and they plan to welcome their first visitors this fall. Interest in running in Russia is growing every year. We see strong running communities emerging in many cities, mass starts taking place, and more people choosing an active lifestyle. Running centers will help make this process even more large-scale and provide people with modern conditions for regular sports activities, he noted during Mikhail Degtyarev's visit to the VFLA stand. The project provides for the creation of modern year-round spaces for training, recovery, and holding sports events. The centers will be built using quick-assembly technology, which allows for the completion of one facility in 4-5 months. Inside, changing rooms, showers, and everything necessary for comfortable training will be equipped. Nearby, there will be running tracks, workout zones, and family recreation areas. Based on the centers, training sessions, amateur competitions, master classes, as well as city and family sports events are planned. First of all, the facilities will appear in cities with already formed running communities and a lack of modern sports infrastructure. The geography of the project covers more than 20 cities in Russia—from St. Petersburg to Birobidzhan. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
