€47.2 million is being demanded from Rheinmetall for the disrupted construction of the center in Mulino.

On June 3, 2026, at 17:25, Incidents The Moscow City Military Prosecutor's Office, together with JSC "Garnizon," filed a lawsuit against the German concern Rheinmetall for the recovery of 47.2 million euros. The proceedings concern the construction of a combat training center for the Ground Forces in the village of Mulino, Nizhny Novgorod region. The contract for the creation of a modern training complex was signed in June 2011. Rheinmetall, one of the largest defense concerns in Germany and a supplier of weapons to NATO countries, was supposed to supply a combat simulation system and provide engineering support for the project. The work was planned to be completed by 2014. However, in 2014, after Crimea's accession to Russia and the imposition of sanctions, the implementation of the project was halted. In August of the same year, the German Ministry of Economics revoked Rheinmetall's permit to participate in the construction of the training ground, citing sectoral restrictions of the European Union, including an arms embargo and a ban on the supply of dual-use products to Russia. Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense sent a notification to the concern with financial claims due to non-fulfillment of the contract and turned to a Swiss court demanding the recovery of fines. However, the court did not satisfy the military department's claim, RBC reports. For its part, Rheinmetall demanded 128 million euros in compensation from the German authorities for the disruption of the defense agreement. It was previously reported that the Nizhny Novgorod prosecutor's office is demanding the closure of the private boarding house "Cozy Home" in Arzamas.
