More than 1200 residents of Nizhny Novgorod are wanted for failure to pay alimony.

      On June 2, 2026, 13:46 Society 1,223 people are wanted for non-payment of alimony in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In the first five months of 2026, 188 debtors were found and brought to administrative responsibility. This was reported by the head of the Federal Bailiff Service of Russia for the region, Alexander Yudin, at a press conference at the Nizhny Novgorod Information Center, attended by a correspondent from the NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."

      A range of measures is applied to alimony non-payers, including restrictions on the right to leave the Russian Federation—over 9,200 cases—and the suspension of driver's licenses, including for water and air transport—2,600 cases.

      In the first five months of 2026, 698 protocols were drawn up against Nizhny Novgorod residents who have not paid alimony for more than two months. If such measures do not have an effect, administrative arrest is applied—17 people, compulsory labor—505 people, or criminal cases—319 people.

      Debtors who are not officially employed and are wanted are found through digital footprints. For example, over 87% of organizations in the banking sector interact with the bailiff service. They provide the necessary documentation, including information about the opening, use, or absence of accounts.

      When employed or registering as self-employed, information is also sent to the agency. Additionally, data from the health insurance fund helps in locating debtors—the person's whereabouts are determined when they visit a clinic.

      If, after a year, there is no information about the whereabouts of the wanted person, the child's legal representative has the right to apply to the court for the recognition of the person as missing, and then payments for the loss of the breadwinner are arranged for the child.
