On June 2, 2026, 17:12 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, activists of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory" held more than 280 meetings with participants of the Special Military Operation (SMO) during the past academic year as part of the "Heroes of the Motherland" project, which is implemented under the national project "Youth and Children."
Thus, on June 2, at the Nizhny Novgorod Medical College, Volunteers of Victory organized a "Lesson of Courage," conducted by a veteran of the special military operation, participant of the educational program "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region," Roman Kostyunichev.
During the meeting, he shared with the students about his life path, service, and combat experience, and recounted stories about camaraderie, mutual assistance, and decision-making in difficult situations. The veteran paid special attention to qualities such as responsibility, resilience, and readiness to support one another.
"At such meetings, I try to speak openly and sincerely with the youth. It is important for me not only to talk about service but also to convey a simple thought: much in life depends on the ability to take responsibility, work in a team, and not remain indifferent to the people around, acting according to conscience. I am glad that the guys actively engage in dialogue and show interest in such topics," noted SMO veteran Roman Kostyunichev.
Roman has over 20 years of service in the internal affairs bodies, deployments to the North Caucasus, and participation in the special military operation. Today, he continues his public activities and participates in the patriotic education of youth within the framework of the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program.
"It is especially important for us that young people can personally communicate with those who are currently defending the interests of the country and serve as examples of courage, responsibility, and fidelity to their duty. Such meetings foster respect for history and modern heroes of Russia, as well as allow the guys to receive honest answers to their pressing questions," said Maria Samodelkina, head of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory."
