      Almost 12,000 residents of Nizhny Novgorod received assistance at the Outpatient Oncology Care Center of the Balakhna Central District Hospital in 2025. As of the first quarter of the current year, more than 3,200 patients have turned to the Outpatient Oncology Care Center. This was reported by the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary. The center was established on the basis of the Balakhna Central District Hospital in 2021. It serves residents of the Balakhna and Chkalovsk districts — a total of more than 72,000 people. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, there are 12 such centers operating as part of the "Fight Against Cancer" program of the national project "Sustained and Active Life." According to the acting chief physician of the Balakhna Central District Hospital, Oleg Chernov, in 2024, 63.3% of new cases of cancer were detected at early stages. In the first quarter of 2025, out of 97 identified cases, most were also diagnosed at stages when treatment is most effective. The day hospital of the center, with nine beds, exceeded planned indicators by almost 36% in 2024. Approximately 120 patients receive antitumor drug therapy here monthly, including targeted drugs and immunotherapy. In 2025, more than 14,000 ultrasound examinations, over 3,000 mammograms, and about 3,500 endoscopic examinations were performed for oncology patients. Waiting times for examinations have been reduced. After treatment is completed, patients are placed on dispensary records in the regional information system. Doctors also use telemedicine consultations: in 2025, more than 400 remote consultations were conducted with specialists from the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary. The national project "Sustained and Active Life" has been implemented in the country since 2025 by order of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. It aims to increase life expectancy by 2030 and includes 11 federal projects, including "Health for Everyone," "Modernization of Primary Healthcare," "Medical Personnel," "Fight Against Cardiovascular Diseases," "Fight Against Cancer," "Fight Against Diabetes," "Fight Against Hepatitis and Minimization of Disease Spread Risks," "Improvement of Emergency Medical Care," "Development of Federal Medical Organizations, including the Development of a Network of National Research Centers," "National Health Platform," and "Optimal Medical Rehabilitation for Health Recovery."
