Actions in case of fire in residential premises
1. Do not panic, do not lose your composure, remain calm.
2. If you discover a fire or signs of burning (smoke, smell of burning, increase in temperature, etc.), immediately report it to the fire department at phones 112, 101, or 01 (for landline phones), and you must provide the address, the location of the fire, as well as your last name. Be prepared for the dispatcher to ask you a series of additional questions.
3. In most cases, when a fire is detected in its very early stages, it can be extinguished with improvised means; if it is impossible to extinguish the fire in the first minutes on your own, leave the premises, closing the doors behind you.
4. If possible, turn off the circuit breakers (on the panel in the stairwell) and take measures to meet the fire and rescue units.
5. Move while crouching or crawling (there is less smoke below), cover your head and body with a wet cloth. Take measures to alert neighbors about the fire.
6. If it is impossible to leave the apartment due to high temperatures or heavy smoke in the stairwell, use the balcony ladder. If there is none, tightly close the doors and windows in the apartment, go out onto the balcony and shout: "Fire!". Signal to the firefighters with bright items or a flashlight. If possible, inform the dispatcher of your location.
7. If there is no balcony and it is impossible to leave the living space, you must close the entrance (interior) door and, using wet towels, blankets, or any other fabric, tightly block the gaps in the doors; if possible, inform the dispatcher of your location.
In the event of a fire, it is strictly prohibited:
1. To extinguish ignited electrical appliances with water without disconnecting them from the power supply. Use water to extinguish burning oil, gas.
2. To open windows and doors to release smoke (the fire will intensify due to the influx of air).
3. To hide under the bed, in a closet, or other pieces of furniture.
4. To attempt to exit through a heavily smoked corridor or staircase (smoke is toxic, and hot air can burn the lungs).
5. To descend via water sources, pipes, and risers, or using sheets and ropes (falling is almost always inevitable).
In case of incidents, contact the fire and rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia at "101" or the unified emergency services number "112".
