There are 18,683 people under dispensary observation, which is 93.5% of those subject to observation. Antiretroviral therapy is being received by 17,763 patients, or 95% of those included in the federal register, which is above the target indicator. HIV cases have been registered in all municipalities of the region. The overall prevalence is 662.7 per 100,000 residents, or 0.7% of the population. The highest level is noted in Shakhunya - 1,153.9 per 100,000. Higher than the regional average indicators have also been recorded in Bor, Lyskovsky, Balakhna, Bogorodsky, Tonshaevsky districts, Nizhny Novgorod, Bolshie Murashki, Dalnekonstantinovsky, and Vorotynsky districts. Among newly identified patients, men prevail - 54.9%. More than 95% of those infected are of working age. The average age of new patients is 41.7 years. In most cases, infection occurs through sexual contact - 82.9%. Of this, 81.1% is due to heterosexual contacts. Another 15.1% of cases are related to drug use through injection. There are also 236 children with HIV under observation, most of whom were born to infected mothers. In 2025, the virus was detected in 11 children: one child was infected in the household while living with an infected mother, two through heterosexual contacts, and five perinatally (from an HIV-positive mother). No cases of infection during medical care have been registered. Among children born in 2025, there are no infections. In total, 232 children were born to 224 HIV-positive women last year, including eight twins. Since the beginning of the year, 817 people with HIV have died. In 196 cases, the cause of death was HIV-related diseases. The mortality rate was 6.4 per 100,000 population, which is slightly lower than last year's level. Since the beginning of the year, 1,402,623 residents of the region have been tested for HIV - this is 45.8% of the population with a target indicator of 35%.
