The top manager of VTB ruled out the introduction of a six-day workweek, betting on automation.

May 27, 2026 15:40 Economy According to the Bank of Russia, the unemployment rate in the country is at historical lows. At the same time, the Russian economy will continue to live for many years under conditions of labor resource shortages, believes Dmitry Pyanov, First Deputy President and Chairman of the Management Board of VTB. "The strategy for working with labor resources is one of the most complex for the economy. There must be elements of managed migration and involvement of labor resources. I do not believe that Russia can introduce a six-day workweek for everyone at the legislative level," Dmitry Pyanov stated during an interview with TASS before the SPIEF-2026. He emphasized that companies should motivate employees with money and flexible schedules, rather than regulatory or coercive methods. The solution to the staffing shortage lies in intensifying production through digitalization, platform solutions, artificial intelligence, and robotics, as well as in reallocating resources in favor of high-performance segments.
