The Nizhny Novgorod major who caused the accident was arrested for 10 days.
On May 27, 2026, at 16:09, it was reported that the 21-year-old son of the former head of "Luidor," Sergey Kornilov, was arrested for ten days by the regional police department.
Recall that on May 20, Kornilov Jr., while in a state of alcohol intoxication, caused a mass traffic accident on the Pokhvalinsky exit. The next day, he went to a restaurant on the Upper Volga embankment, where he continued to consume alcohol. On May 21, a representative of the establishment contacted the police, reporting a conflict between the young men, the restaurant administration, and journalists. It is known that Kornilov was there with a friend.
As a result of the investigation, police officers drew up protocols under Article 20.1 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation ("Minor Hooliganism").
On May 26, the court imposed a preventive measure on Kornilov within the framework of the criminal case: the young man was prohibited from using the internet, visiting bars, and engaging in a number of other actions.
On the same day, the court also made a decision regarding his friend—he was arrested for eight days for attacking a journalist.
It is noteworthy that after the traffic accident on the Pokhvalinsky exit, two criminal cases were initiated against Kornilov—one by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the other by the Investigative Committee. Later, the case initiated by the Investigative Committee was canceled. Investigators are currently seeking to transfer materials from the police to their proceedings.
