The private boarding house in Arzamas responded to allegations of inadequate care.

On May 27, 2026, at 12:40, the "Cozy Home" nursing home in Arzamas commented on the escalating scandal.

Recall that relatives of the residents reported on social media about inadequate care for the elderly and the deterioration of their condition. One of the women later died after being hospitalized.

There was also information about a conflict between the staff of the institution and the family of one of the residents. According to the claimants, the quarrel occurred when the relatives tried to take the elderly woman home. As a result of the incident, they reportedly sustained bodily injuries.

"The fact of regular payment for accommodation and care for the ward (for example, from January to April) indicates that throughout this period, the family was satisfied with the level of service and did not raise any complaints about the quality of care," the administration of the nursing home stated.

The institution explained that they have an established procedure for handling complaints. Relatives are advised to visit their loved ones and immediately report any problems—by phone, through the website, or in person. The nursing home assures that every complaint is recorded and reviewed within 24 hours, an internal investigation is conducted, and measures are taken if necessary. If violations are confirmed, staff may be replaced or payment recalculated.

"Attempts to raise complaints post-factum, long after the end of the accommodation period and without any complaints during the service provision, raise questions about the good faith of such statements. Such actions may be aimed not at improving the quality of care, but at discrediting the institution," representatives of "Cozy Home" added.

The nursing home emphasized that they are open to dialogue and inspections. They promised to provide documents regarding the care of specific residents if needed.

Additionally, according to one of the staff members, the relatives arrived outside visiting hours when the administration was no longer working, and the residents were resting. He claims that the guests began to loudly argue and started a fight on the porch of the building.

Law enforcement agencies have taken an interest in the situation. Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin demanded a report on the progress of the investigation. The Prosecutor's Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has initiated an inspection and filed a lawsuit to suspend the activities of the nursing home.
