The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court ordered Russian Railways to put the bridge over the Volga in order.

      On May 27, 2026, at 11:37, Incidents: The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court ordered OJSC "Russian Railways" to repair the railway bridge over the Volga at the request of the transport prosecutor's office. The Nizhny Novgorod transport prosecutor's office conducted an inspection of compliance with traffic safety legislation during the operation and maintenance of infrastructure facilities. During the inspection, it was found that the reinforced concrete bridge over the Volga, located at the 444th kilometer of the Nizhny Novgorod - Kotel'nich section, is in an unsatisfactory condition: corrosion was found on some elements of the structure, and the concrete supports have defects. After this, the Nizhny Novgorod transport prosecutor filed a lawsuit against the bridge owner, demanding that they be compelled to carry out repairs. However, the first-instance court denied the claim. The prosecutor's office disagreed with this decision and submitted an appeal to a higher court. The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court supported the demands of the transport prosecutor. As a result, OJSC "Russian Railways" was obligated to repair the railway bridge, the press service of the Volga Transport Prosecutor's Office reported. The execution of the court's decision is under the control of the prosecutor's office. Previously, the court ordered Russian Railways to eliminate dangerous violations on the tracks in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
