Almost 47,500 graduates in the Nizhny Novgorod region are saying goodbye to school.

May 27, 2026 12:17 Society The last bells are ringing in Nizhny Novgorod schools. In 2026, about 47,500 people are graduating, including 34,800 ninth-graders and 12,700 eleventh-graders. Festive ceremonies for graduates, their parents, and teachers are organized in all educational institutions in the region. The head of the regional Ministry of Education, Mikhail Puchkov, noted that the region is facing an ambitious young generation eager to make the world better and more interesting. According to him, the "Last Bell" symbolizes the end of one life stage and the beginning of another. He wished the graduates success in their exams and emphasized that they have all the opportunities to realize themselves in science, art, production, management, teaching, and other fields. In Bor, the last bell rang for more than two thousand graduates of the 9th and 11th grades. At the Krasnoslobodskaya primary school, where a major renovation was recently completed under the national project "Youth and Children," a solemn ceremony was held for 29 ninth-graders. Graduates and teachers note that this academic year has been special—the celebration took place in the renovated building. Ninth-grade student Varvara Vishnyakova admitted, "The school has changed beyond recognition! New classrooms have appeared—such as for the subject 'Fundamentals of Safety and Defense of the Motherland,' and a Youth Army room. I really liked our renovation, and it's even a pity that my class is graduating." According to the Ministry of Education, more than 84 million rubles were allocated for the major renovation of the institution. The school updated its engineering systems, modernized classrooms, equipping them with new furniture and modern equipment. Special attention was paid to the development of sports infrastructure: the gym was renovated, and a new hockey rink, sports ground, and obstacle course were installed on the school grounds. Nikolai Lezov, the director of Krasnoslobodskaya primary school, reported that all conditions for student safety have been created at the institution: surveillance cameras have been installed inside the building and around its perimeter, and an access control system is in place. "My pride is that we completely renovated the school cafeteria. We have divided the zones by workshops, purchased new modern kitchen equipment and furniture," he noted. In the Volodarsky district, the last bell rang for 600 graduates. Eleventh-grade graduate Anatoly Raevsky from Volodarskaya Secondary School No. 1 shared that he plans to enroll in the National Research Nuclear University "MEPhI" in the field of "Nuclear Energy and Thermal Physics." He is confident that the future lies in nuclear energy and hopes to be part of the team creating safe and efficient technologies for the country. The national project "Youth and Children" is being implemented on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It includes nine federal projects and programs, including "Russia—a Land of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for the Leaders of the Generation," and "Professionalism." It was previously reported that the last bell at Nizhny Novgorod School No. 47 was attended by singer and showman Sergey Lazarev. See the photo report from the solemn ceremony here.
