The Nizhny Novgorod major was banned from going to bars and using the internet.

      On May 26, 2026, at 14:55, Incidents: Sergei Kornilov, who caused a mass traffic accident in the center of Nizhny Novgorod, has been placed under a measure of restraint in the form of a prohibition on certain actions. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region. The 21-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod will not be able to leave his home at night, visit establishments where alcohol is sold, use the internet, communicate with witnesses, or drive vehicles. As Ni Mash adds, the young man fully admitted his guilt, expressed remorse for his actions, and agreed with the chosen measure of restraint. It is noted that the defendant is a third-year student at the Lebedev Russian State University of Transport and suffers from asthma and tachycardia.

      Recall that on May 20, the young man, behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz convertible, veered into oncoming traffic and provoked a traffic accident. According to the 21-year-old driver himself, he was in a state of alcohol intoxication and refused medical examination. The son of the former head of the "Luidor" group was placed in a temporary detention facility, and his car was recognized as evidence and seized.

      After the accident, four administrative protocols were drawn up against the perpetrator. Since the beginning of 2025, a total of 161 administrative materials have been filed against him, amounting to 719,000 rubles, of which 51 protocols were for non-payment of fines. The case regarding one of the offenses—refusal to undergo a medical examination for intoxication—will be reviewed on May 28.

      In addition, two criminal cases have been initiated against Sergei Kornilov—one for actions threatening the safe operation of vehicles, for which a hearing took place on May 26, and another for hooliganism. The investigation is under the control of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin. Before his arrest, the young man recorded a video message from rehab, where he allegedly went for treatment after the scandal erupted. On camera, he apologized for the traffic accident.
