The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court has ordered Russian Railways (RZD) to repair the railway bridge over the Volga. This was reported by the press service of the Privolzhsky Transport Prosecutor's Office.
As established by the inspection conducted by the transport prosecutor's office, the reinforced concrete bridge located at the 444 km mark of the section between the Nizhny Novgorod and Kotel'nich stations is in unsatisfactory condition. Corrosion of certain structural elements and defects in the concrete supports have been recorded at the site.
In connection with the identified violations of legislation on the safety of railway transport, the Nizhny Novgorod transport prosecutor filed a lawsuit against the bridge owner, demanding the elimination of violations and the repair of the bridge. However, the court of first instance unjustifiably denied these demands.
The transport prosecutor appealed this decision, sending an appellate submission to a higher court. The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court reviewed the appeal and fully satisfied the requirements of the supervisory authority. Russian Railways (RZD) has been tasked with repairing the railway bridge over the Volga.
The execution of the court's decision is under the control of the Nizhny Novgorod transport prosecutor's office.
