HC "Torpedo" acquired the rights to forward Georgy Merkulov after a trade with CSKA.
"Torpedo" and CSKA conducted a trade of sports rights for players. The Nizhny Novgorod club received the rights to forward Georgy Merkulov, while the Moscow club acquired the rights to defender Yegor Zamula. The 25-year-old Merkulov has spent the last five seasons in the Boston Bruins system, demonstrating high scoring ability. In the AHL, he played 274 games, accumulating 245 points in the "goal+assist" system (95+150). As a result of his performances in the league, the forward was included in the rookie team, participated in the "All-Star Weekend," and was the top scorer for his team for four consecutive years. Additionally, Merkulov received calls to the Boston main roster and took to the ice in NHL games. Besides the rights to the productive forward, "Torpedo" will also receive financial compensation from CSKA. According to some insiders, Merkulov may return to Russia this summer. It was previously reported that "Chaika" forward Sergey Skvortsov signed his first professional contract with "Torpedo." NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
