A Nizhny Novgorod resident was sentenced to 7 years for fake news about the army and justification of terrorism.
On May 22, 2026, at 10:16, incidents reported that a 48-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod was found guilty of publicly justifying terrorism and spreading knowingly false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the press service of the 2nd Western District Military Court.
It was established that in March 2022, Kamil Magomedov harbored political and ideological hatred towards the social group "Russians" and posted a comment on social media containing fakes about the use of the army.
In June 2023, the man, who supports the idea of separating the Caucasus from Russia, published a comment on Telegram justifying the activities of the terrorist Shamil Basayev*.
Furthermore, in April of last year, in the same messenger, Kamil Magomedov shared a publication that included links to a video interview with a member of the Azov battalion** Dmitry Kanuper, where the activities of the organization were justified.
The court sentenced the Nizhny Novgorod resident to seven years in a general regime correctional colony, with a five-year ban on administering websites and channels on the internet.
